Love for the earth

The abbey was founded by the local monks 1000 years ago, as place for cult and meditation. The abbey was inherited, after the War, by Pietro Stucchi Prinetti who transformed it in the present business. His wife starting from the beginning of the ’80 founded the famous cooking school.

Today the business is run by the two sons and the daughter of the couple. Emanuela, who was the first woman to be president of The Consorzio of the Chianti Classico, takes care of the promotion and of the external relationships; Paolo takes care of the Badia restaurant in Coltibuono, while Roberto, who concerted all the vineyards, the olive groves and all the property into organic, deals with the productive aspects.

In the monumental villa you’ll find eight of the monk’s cells restructured in wonderful rooms with a fabulous view on the Italian garden with the swimming pool. You could use this room with the bed and breakfast formula but you’ll be also able to find apartments to rent.

The Tuscany’s school of kitchen is for people that want to learn traditions from Tuscany and it’s modulated with courses of different durations.

In the ancient stables you’ll find the restaurant, which is right in front of the romantic garden, with a beautiful view on the Arno’s valley. In the restaurant you’ll find delicious dishes with seasonal ingredients, organic flours, meat and cheese are locally produced.

The owners choose time ago, after years of traditional agricultural, to go back to the organic productions of oil and wine. This choice was made because of the love for the earth: in fact for centuries this land has been self-sufficient and treated so that it could self- reinvigorate.

Badia was rewarded for its organic wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Cultus Boni, Sangioveto e Vin Santo, judged as one of the best wine in the world made with passita grapes.

The Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice is a rare and very peculiar meditation wine which requires a very long period of ageing in the cellar. The first wine is the 2003 and is only of 1000 bottles.

The extra virgin organic oils Campo Corto and Albereto are tasty and each it’s appropriate to be eaten on a specific dish.

You cannot miss the guided degustation and the visit to the wine cellars. You can also buy products on the property.

AGAINST It’s not indicated for noisy families: the silence rules here.
